説明
弥生時代後期の伊勢湾岸では、白味を帯びた器面に繊細な櫛描文が施され、赤く塗り分けられた華やかな土器が盛行しました。これらの土器はクレタ島の宮廷跡から出土するギリシャ陶器に匹敵する美しさをもつことから、パレス式土器やパレス・スタイル土器とも呼ばれています。
本モデルはそれらパレススタイル土器のなかでも最もきれいな土器。赤く塗られるとともに,細かな模様が施されているもの。
なお山中遺跡は,弥生時代後期（約１８００年前）の標識遺跡（ひょうしきいせき：時代の基準となる遺跡）になっている。
Red earthenware representing the Owari region in the late Yayoi period. It is called the palace style because it is as beautiful as the “kyukyu pottery” found in Crete, Greece. The surface of the pottery is white, and the pattern is drawn by combing and piercing (shitotsu), and the other parts are painted red.
